CSD Inc. began in 1976 as a packager of all Mil-spec chemicals, coatings reducers, and oils for various arms of the United States government.  After many years of exclusively packaging for the Department of Defense and General Services Administration, the company decided to use its expertise and expanded into the commercial market and founded Startex Chemical in 1985.

Startex Chemical focused on the paint and coatings trade and began private-labeling thinners and reducers.  At the same time the proprietary Startex line was launched and sold into the wholesale hardware and two-step paint sundry distribution market.

In 1996 as the business grew, the assets of the Arpol Petroleum Company (a synthetic lubricants company specializing in US Military specification products) were merged into CSD Inc.  This was the foundation of our lubricants and export business that thrives today.

As the company’s sales continue to expand, it was clear the small plant where we started in Cut and Shoot just was not going to be big enough.  In January of 2002 we purchased a 60 acre rail served facility seven miles away in Willis, Texas where operations continue today.

In March 2002, CSD acquired the Prist line of aerospace fuel additives.  Prist is known as the industry standard among aviation fuel additives.  This additive is an important component of military and general aviation fuels.

In March 2003, Startex Distribution, LLC was formed.  This aspect of the company focuses on bulk raw material sales to all types of industries including refining, oil field, paint and coatings, and many others.  This rapidly expanding segment of the company will expand it geographical influence as time progresses.

From the company’s humble beginnings in 1976, a product line from Mil-spec chemicals, reducers and oils from pints to drums and now those same products and raw materials available in tank trucks to railcars make us a “one-stop” supplier for all your chemical needs.
